Stevedores' walkout in Hamina, Kotka and Vuosaari

The cooperation procedure with Hamina personnel groups concerning Steveco Oy’s stevedoring operations in Hamina started on 26 June 2012.
Steveco’s main cargo flows in Hamina have been at significant low ebb this year. It is expected that this trend will continue despite the efforts of Steveco and Port of HaminaKotka to find new cargo flow to replace those lost.
Profitability of Steveco’s operations in Hamina reaches not yet the level required for developing the business and therefore Steveco has to tighten its production structure and make choices in order to increase efficiency of the company’s activities and to improve customer service.
The company and the personnel groups wanted to find a common solution in this matter in the negotiations held during the now completed procedure. The plan was worked out during the procedure and will be carried out so that all Steveco’s activities except Steveco Logistics, Oy Saimaa Terminals Ab and Suomen Satamatekniikka Oy will end in Hamina the end of year 2012. The personnel of Hamina will be made redundant. We have 97 employees in Hamina unit.
Steveco will with this action secure an efficient service package to its customers as well in Hietanen as in Mussalo and Vuosaari, Finland’s leading container terminals.
